Be Yourself

I’m using the WordPress 2017 theme for my blog. That’s because I couldn’t figure out how to set up any other theme myself.

Some people laugh when I say this. I didn’t want to get someone to set up a fancy theme for me and then be stuck fumbling around when I need to add content. I can’t let that stop me from putting myself out there, so I hope you like my site. It’s me just being me.

The photo in the header was taken on a New Zealand holiday in South Island. This is my version of ‘happy to be alive’ in the middle of all that gorgeous NZ scenery.

To jazz it up a bit, I used Be Funky an online photo editor.  I was able to create a look that speaks to me with minimal know how. Stress on minimal.  One click actually.

The effect I used which is called ‘Vintage’ gives the whole picture a positive, optimistic feel – my version of rose  coloured glasses, if you will.
I recommend Be Funky to anyone, especially if like me, you’re a technical ignoramus. I actually had fun doing it too instead of pulling my hair out; usually standard practice with technical computer stuff. I used the free account option. There’s a paid option with more effects which I really don’t need right now as I’d probably find it too overwhelming.

In case you’re wondering, I’m not an affiliate for Be Funky; I just used it and wanted to tell you how it helped me get a look for my blog.  Besides, I thought you might like to use it too.

In time, I would like to upgrade my theme, maybe even have a logo but it’ll take a while to figure out.  In the meantime, here I am online with my own unique presence…being myself. I don’t do impressions 🙂

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

 Friedrich Nietzsche

Pretty cool philosopher who really resonates with our time don’t you think?

I’m going to leave you with a great track I discovered on You Tube or did You Tube recommend it to me because it knows I love Prince??

Hmm…let’s not worry about the Orwellian nature of Google and its subsidiaries right now.

This chicky babe Janelle Monáe had the pleasure of working with Prince before he (who will always be cherished) left us forever. She is fantastically funky (just like my blog) and this video reminds me so much of the Eighties, I could cry…for shoulder pads, guys with makeup, lost youth etc.

Happy 2018 – Is There Anybody Out There?

Dear Internet Readers,

It’s been three years and eight months since I last posted on my blog…why did I stop, oh why?

Quite simply, I stuffed up (if you speak Aussie) otherwise known as an Epic Fail.

So I guess if you were following my blog, you’ve long since abandoned me and who would blame you?

Not me anyways.

After earning my first dollar online back in 2014, I discovered I was broke myself. I had just enough to keep up with the minimum payments on my credit card, not much more.

So I didn’t have any money left to buy traffic and realised that free traffic methods were going to take a long time to deliver…that’s when it set in…the D word.

Yep, depression came on like a big black cloud and I gave up and gave in to the daily grind without so much as a struggle.

Pretty pathetic but that’s what happened.

Life, however, didn’t wait for me to get my act together…nope, it just went relentlessly on and I was barely there…

Finally I paid off my debts the hard way; with my day job and living on a very tight budget. Tight with a capital T.

Now that I’m debt free the relief is great, but what of the lost time?
This I can’t get back. I’ve lost the momentum I had and I’ve just got to start over.

I always meant to return to this blog which is why I kept paying for the hosting. Even though I’ve taken so long, I’ve finally begun.

So let’s take it from the top and learn about each other all over again, this time I’ll keep going, I promise…

Here’s a video from a great artist Laura Mvula…she sings it better than I can write it…

Video Torture

To all the wonderful members of the Quickstart Challenge Community who visited my very first post, a heartfelt thank you. These two little words are simply inadequate to express just how much your comments have meant to me. You have encouraged and supported me with such generosity that I finally believe I will be able to create an online business.

I’m afraid I have only managed to visit some of your blogs so far, as I am suffering beginner overload! But I promise to be over your way soon.

In the meantime, I have been on a mission today to catch up with Week 2 of the Quickstart Challenge – the Tough with a capital T; yes, that’s right, the knee trembling, heart stopping Video Post!!!

It’s been a Sunday of laughter and tears trying to record a tiny, itsy, bitsy, 1 Minute and 17 Seconds of video promoting my QSC experience. It took me about two hours of fussing with light, poor sound and my mind going blank every time the Record button was pressed. By the time it was over, I was overcharged with adrenalin and had to go for a long walk by the beach just to get it out of my system.

Watching my cringeworthy performance now, with a voice that sounds like I’m lost inside a tin can and a body posture similar to a robot, I think I’d better stick to writing!

Now, my QSC friends, I know you’ve been through the same video torture trial, so we are bonded by our group struggle together.

I await your comments and don’t worry, I want the truth…really, I mean it…well, okay you can lie just a little bit…
